About the tides at Albany
Albany has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. On a typical day the water moves about 5.0 ft between high and low. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 5.6 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 5.8 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 3.5 ft, on Tuesday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.8 ft on April 20 and bottom out at −0.9 ft on August 4.
Predictions for Albany come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. NOAA measured the tide here from 1981 to 1987 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Castleton, 8 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Port of Albany.
