The tide times, charts, water levels, currents and other information on bootitems are for general planning only. Do not use them for navigation. For boating and navigation, use official NOAA or Canadian Hydrographic Service products and up-to-date nautical charts.
Predictions are not guarantees
Tide predictions are based on the pull of the moon and sun. They don't include wind, air pressure, rain, river flow, storms or waves. Real water levels can be higher or lower than predicted, sometimes by a lot. Times can also differ.
A station measures the tide at one point. Conditions at a nearby beach, inlet, creek or ramp can be different.
Live readings
Live gauge readings are preliminary. They have not been checked by the agency that provides them. Sensors can fail, drift or go offline. A reading can be missing or wrong.
Our own calculations
Activity windows, spring and king tide dates, sunrise and sunset times, and nearby station offsets are calculated by us. They are our opinion and may contain errors. They are not advice to go fishing, swimming, boating or onto rocks or flats.
Your safety
The coast can be dangerous. Tides can cut off beaches, sandbars and rocks. Waves can arrive without warning. Currents in inlets can be strong. Always check local conditions, warnings and signs, and use your own judgment.
Official sources prevail
US data comes from NOAA CO-OPS. NOAA provides its data "as is", without warranty.
Canadian data comes from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. CHS notes that its online data may differ slightly from the official tide tables published each year by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Where they differ, the official publications prevail.
If anything on this site differs from the official source, the official source is correct.
