About the tides at Alitak

Alitak has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. With a mean range of about 9.4 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 11.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 14.8 ft, comes on Sunday, and the smallest, 6.8 ft, on October 15. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 14.8 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −3.7 ft on July 5.
