About the tides at Bahia Honda Key

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.5 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. Water here rises and falls only about 1.2 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.5 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.1 ft, comes on October 26, and the smallest, 0.9 ft, on Thursday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.2 ft on October 28 and bottom out at −0.4 ft on January 21.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Key West, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1970 to 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Ohio Key-Bahia Honda Key Channel, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 11 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Bahia Honda Harbor.

Predictions are based on Key West.
