About the tides at Barren Island

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Chesapeake Bay, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The mean range is small, about 1.2 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.6 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 1.7 ft. Neap tides follow tomorrow, when the range shrinks to 0.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.9 ft on September 1, and the lowest is −0.5 ft on January 22.
