About the tides at Bay Point
Bay Point usually gets one high and one low tide a day, known as a diurnal tide. The pattern follows the reference station at Pensacola, Pensacola Bay. Water here rises and falls only about 1.4 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.4 ft, comes on October 30, and the smallest, 0.4 ft, on Thursday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.4 ft on October 3 and bottom out at −1.2 ft on January 21.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Pensacola, Pensacola Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Shield Point, 0.9 mi away, where high tide comes about 23 min earlier.
Predictions are based on Pensacola, Pensacola Bay.
