This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. On a typical day the water moves about 1.28 m between high and low.

Belledune is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. The nearest other station is Pointe Howatson, 25 km away. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
