About the tides at Black Rock
Black Rock has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. With a mean range of about 7.3 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 10.1 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 10.5 ft, comes on Saturday, and the smallest, 6.7 ft, on October 9.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Port Moller, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1948 to 1986 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Kulukak Point, 21 mi away, where high tide comes about 35 min earlier.
