About the tides at Blanc-Sablon

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The average range is about 0.95 m. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Quebec stations on this site.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1984. The nearest other station is Forteau Bay, 15 km away, where high tide comes about 23 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
