About the tides at Bloody Point
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.8 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. The range is large, about 6.8 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most South Carolina stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.3 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 25, with a range of 8.1 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 5.0 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 8.7 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −1.7 ft on January 23.
Bloody Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fort Pulaski, Savannah River: highs come about 1 min and lows about 19 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1980 to 1981 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Hargray Pier, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 18 min later. For tidal currents, see Bloody Pt., 0.5 mile west of, New River.
Predictions are based on Fort Pulaski, Savannah River.
