About the tides at Brownell Point

Brownell Point has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. On a typical day the water moves about 1.03 m between high and low. That is larger than most Newfoundland and Labrador stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.76 m, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 0.71 m, tomorrow.

Predictions for Brownell Point come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. It was established in 2004. The nearest other station is Eclipse Channel, 37 km away, where high tide comes about 29 min later. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
