About the tides at Canso Harbour

Canso Harbour has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The average range is about 1.19 m. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 1.52 m. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 1.07 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. The nearest other station is Whitehead, 19 km away, where high tide comes about 17 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
