About the tides at Cap-d'Espoir
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The average range is about 0.73 m. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Quebec stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 12, with a range of 1.24 m. Neap tides follow on Tuesday, when the range shrinks to 0.41 m.
This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1964. The nearest other station is Sainte-Thérèse-de-Gaspé, 5.0 km away, where high tide comes about 8 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
Tide predictions and water levels from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
