About the tides at Cape Skogn

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The range is large, about 1.92 m on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Nunavut stations on this site. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 2.99 m. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 1.69 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1983. The nearest other station is Grise Fiord, 78 km away. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
