About the tides at Cudjoe Key

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. The mean range is small, about 1.2 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.6 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 2.3 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 1.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.2 ft on October 28, and the lowest is −0.5 ft on January 21.

Cudjoe Key is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Key West: highs come about 38 min earlier and lows about 41 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1974 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Gopher Key, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 8 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Loggerhead Key, East of.

Predictions are based on Key West.
