About the tides at Davis Inlet
Davis Inlet has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. On a typical day the water moves about 1.23 m between high and low. That is larger than most Newfoundland and Labrador stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.86 m, comes on October 11, and the smallest, 0.91 m, on Sunday.
Predictions for Davis Inlet come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. It was established in 1971. The nearest other station is Shoal Tickle, 37 km away, where high tide comes about 27 min earlier. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
