About the tides at Grand Bruit
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.22 m, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. On a typical day the water moves about 1.04 m between high and low. That is larger than most Newfoundland and Labrador stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.69 m, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 0.81 m, on Monday.
Predictions for Grand Bruit come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. It was established in 1995. The nearest other station is La Poile (Little Bay), 13 km away, where high tide comes about 16 min later. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
