About the tides at Grande-Entrée
Grande-Entrée has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The mean range is small, about 0.40 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Quebec stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 29, with a range of 0.89 m. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 0.37 m.
This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1976. The nearest other station is Grosse Île - Mine Seleine, 6.1 km away, where high tide comes about 38 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
