About the tides at Hanamaulu Bay
Hanamaulu Bay has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Nawiliwili. The mean range is small, about 1.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak on October 12, with a range of 2.1 ft. Neap tides follow on October 8, when the range shrinks to 1.6 ft.
Hanamaulu Bay is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Nawiliwili: highs come about 10 min and lows about 4 min later than there. The nearest other station is Nawiliwili, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Nawiliwili Harbor.
Predictions are based on Nawiliwili.
