About the tides at Kay Point

Kay Point has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The mean range is small, about 0.17 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 0.35 m. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 0.07 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1974. The nearest other station is Herschel Island, 37 km away, where high tide comes about 21 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose.
