About the tides at Key Haven - Stock Island Channel
Key Haven - Stock Island Channel has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. The mean range is small, about 0.9 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.4 ft. The next spring tides peak on Monday, with a range of 1.5 ft. Neap tides follow on October 18, when the range shrinks to 0.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.9 ft on October 28, and the lowest is −0.5 ft on January 21.
Key Haven - Stock Island Channel is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Key West: highs come about 145 min and lows about 177 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1974 to 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Cow Key Channel, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 30 min earlier.
