About the tides at Kugaaruk

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The range is large, about 1.76 m on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Nunavut stations on this site. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 2.67 m. Neap tides follow on October 11, when the range shrinks to 2.24 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1986. The nearest other station is Cape Berens, 68 km away, where high tide comes about 18 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
