About the tides at Little Pine Key, north end
Little Pine Key, north end has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. The mean range is small, about 1.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.8 ft. The next spring tides peak on Monday, with a range of 2.2 ft. Neap tides follow on October 20, when the range shrinks to 1.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.7 ft on October 29, and the lowest is −0.8 ft on January 21.
Little Pine Key, north end is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Key West: highs come about 218 min and lows about 208 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1974 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Water Key, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 15 min earlier.
