About the tides at Little Spanish Key
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 1.0 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. The average range is about 2.2 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.9 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 4.5 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 2.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.4 ft on October 29, and the lowest is −1.1 ft on January 21.
Little Spanish Key is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Key West: highs come about 205 min and lows about 270 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1974 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Crawl Key, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 9 min later. For tidal currents, see No Name Key, northeast of.
Predictions are based on Key West.
