About the tides at Mandalay

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at St. Marks Lhtse., Apalachee Bay. The mean range is small, about 1.9 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.5 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.1 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −0.8 ft on December 24.

Mandalay is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting St. Marks Lhtse., Apalachee Bay: highs come about 25 min and lows about 57 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1975 to 1976 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Snipe Island, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 11 min later.
