About the tides at Moon Head

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.8 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Boston, Boston Harbor. The range is large, about 9.0 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Massachusetts stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 11.7 ft on November 26, and the lowest is −1.8 ft on January 23.

Moon Head is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Boston, Boston Harbor: highs come about 1 min and lows about 4 min later than there. The nearest other station is Nut Island, 3 mi away. For tidal currents, see Spectacle Island, 0.2 n.mi. south of.

Predictions are based on Boston, Boston Harbor.
