About the tides at Nanaimo Harbour

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. With a mean range of about 2.10 m, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.49 m, comes on October 29, and the smallest, 1.74 m, on Sunday.

Nanaimo Harbour is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 1997. The nearest other station is Harmac, 6.2 km away. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
