About the tides at North Kopak Island

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at North Kopak Island, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The mean range is small, about 0.34 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Nunavut stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Sunday, with a range of 0.50 m. Neap tides follow on October 13, when the range shrinks to 0.21 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1975. The nearest other station is Povungnituk, 25 km away. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
