About the tides at Paliak Islands

Paliak Islands has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. Paliak Islands sees a mean range of about 3.46 m. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Nunavut stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.33 m, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 2.25 m, today.

Predictions for Paliak Islands come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. It was established in 2016. The nearest other station is Bennett Bay, 59 km away. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
