About the tides at Pascagoula, Mississippi Sound
Tides at Mississippi Sound are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The mean range is small, about 1.4 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak on Tuesday, with a range of 1.7 ft. Neap tides follow tomorrow, when the range shrinks to 0.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.3 ft on December 23, and the lowest is −0.7 ft on December 23.
This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 1980 to 2005 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Dock E, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 19 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Horn Island, Petit Bois Island, between.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
