About the tides at Pine Landing
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at South Edisto R., each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. The range is large, about 6.0 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 8.3 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 4.5 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 8.2 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −1.7 ft on January 23.
Pine Landing is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fort Pulaski, Savannah River: highs come about 29 min and lows about 45 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Windsor Plantation, Russel Creek, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 39 min later. For tidal currents, see Sampson Island, NE end, South Edisto Riv..
Predictions are based on Fort Pulaski, Savannah River.
