About the tides at Pleasant Hill Landing

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.3 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. On a typical day the water moves about 2.3 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most South Carolina stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.6 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.2 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 1.3 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.1 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is U.S. Highway 17 bridge, 8 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 45 m earlier.

Predictions are based on Charleston, Cooper River Entrance.
