About the tides at Port Nelson

Port Nelson has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The tide range here is very large, about 3.39 m on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. The next spring tides peak on October 29, with a range of 4.74 m. Neap tides follow tomorrow, when the range shrinks to 1.90 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1912. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
