About the tides at Port Reading

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The range is large, about 5.3 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most New Jersey stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 5.9 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 6.8 ft. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 5.2 ft.
