About the tides at Port Reading
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Arthur Kill, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The range is large, about 5.3 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most New Jersey stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 5.9 ft. The next spring tides peak on Saturday, with a range of 6.8 ft. Neap tides follow on October 18, when the range shrinks to 3.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.0 ft on July 4, and the lowest is −1.2 ft on January 24.
