About the tides at Purrysburg Landing
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Savannah River, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. The average range is about 3.0 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most South Carolina stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.3 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 4.0 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 2.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.9 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −0.7 ft on January 23.
Purrysburg Landing is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fort Pulaski, Savannah River: highs come about 134 min and lows about 218 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1978 to 1983 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is S.c.l. RR. bridge, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 23 min earlier.
