About the tides at Qikiqtarjuaq

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. On a typical day the water moves about 0.64 m between high and low. That is smaller than most Nunavut stations on this site.

Qikiqtarjuaq is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 1958. The nearest other station is Kivitoo, 56 km away, where high tide comes about 17 min earlier. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
