About the tides at Rabbit Island

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The mean range is small, about 0.37 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Newfoundland and Labrador stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 0.67 m. Neap tides follow tomorrow, when the range shrinks to 0.23 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. The nearest other station is North West River, 14 km away, where high tide comes about 38 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
