About the tides at Sand Heads

Sand Heads has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The range is large, about 1.98 m on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on October 13, with a range of 3.34 m. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 1.98 m.

Sand Heads is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 2002. The nearest other station is Steveston, 8.4 km away, where high tide comes about 7 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
