About the tides at Savannah

Savannah has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. The range is large, about 7.5 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 10.1 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −2.1 ft on January 23.

Savannah is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fort Pulaski, Savannah River: highs come about 44 min and lows about 33 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1979 to 1983 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Fort Jackson, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 15 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Savannah, southeast of highway bridge.

Predictions are based on Fort Pulaski, Savannah River.
