About the tides at Sidney Bay

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The range is large, about 2.16 m on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on Monday, with a range of 3.55 m. Neap tides follow on October 15, when the range shrinks to 1.43 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. The nearest other station is Cordero Islands, 11 km away, where high tide comes about 30 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
