About the tides at Sinnickson Landing
Sinnickson Landing has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Reedy Point. On a typical day the water moves about 5.0 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 5.9 ft, comes on Saturday, and the smallest, 4.4 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.5 ft on August 3 and bottom out at −0.8 ft on January 24.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Reedy Point, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1983 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Salem, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 45 min later. For tidal currents, see Salem River entrance.
Predictions are based on Reedy Point.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
