About the tides at South Ashley Bridge

South Ashley Bridge has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at CHARLESTON (Customhouse Wharf). With a mean range of about 5.3 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 5.8 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 6.4 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 5.5 ft, on Sunday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at CHARLESTON (Customhouse Wharf), with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1975 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Wappoo Creek, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 18 min later.
