About the tides at South Island Ferry
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.5 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. The average range is about 3.7 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most South Carolina stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 4.1 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 25, with a range of 4.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 2.7 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.9 ft on October 1, and the lowest is −1.1 ft on January 23.
South Island Ferry is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Charleston, Cooper River Entrance: highs come about 54 min and lows about 85 min later than there.
