About the tides at Tampa

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.6 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at East Bay. Water here rises and falls only about 2.0 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.1 ft, comes on Tuesday, and the smallest, 2.0 ft, on October 20. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.6 ft on October 29 and bottom out at −0.9 ft on January 21.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at East Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Davis Island, 0.8 mi away, where high tide comes about 11 min later. For tidal currents, see Alafia River ent., 1.2 miles west of.

Predictions are based on East Bay.
