About the tides at The Narrows

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at The Narrows, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The tide range here is very large, about 7.20 m on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Quebec stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 11, with a range of 9.90 m. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 5.54 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1981. The nearest other station is Rivière Koksoak, 15 km away, where high tide comes about 34 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
