About the tides at Threemile Harbor entrance
Threemile Harbor entrance has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at New London, Thames River. The average range is about 2.3 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most New York stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 3.6 ft. Neap tides follow on Tuesday, when the range shrinks to 1.6 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.5 ft on July 3, and the lowest is −0.7 ft on January 23.
Threemile Harbor entrance is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting New London, Thames River: highs come about 39 min and lows about 19 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1988 to 1990 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Sag Harbor, 6 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min later.
