About the tides at Tin City
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.1 ft. The mean range is small, about 0.7 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.0 ft. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 1.2 ft. Neap tides follow on October 20, when the range shrinks to 0.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.1 ft on September 4, and the lowest is −0.4 ft on January 26.
