About the tides at Western Branch

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.4 ft. The average range is about 2.8 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most Virginia stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.1 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 3.6 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 1.9 ft.
