About the tides at Whitestone
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.6 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Kings Point. With a mean range of about 7.2 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 9.4 ft, comes on October 10, and the smallest, 6.6 ft, on Saturday.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Kings Point, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1981 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Throgs Neck, 1 mi away. For tidal currents, see Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, East of.
Predictions are based on Kings Point.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
