About the tides at Winter Harbour

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.39 m, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The range is large, about 2.07 m on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on Sunday, with a range of 3.27 m. Neap tides follow on October 16, when the range shrinks to 2.18 m.

Winter Harbour is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 1963. The nearest other station is Hunt Islet, 4.3 km away. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
